Boiler Mechanic

Job Description:

GovServe Solutions connects clients with cutting-edge technology and specialized skilled trades to power essential operations. We’re seeking a skilled Boiler Mechanic to install, inspect, maintain, and repair boiler systems across multiple sites. This role supports safe, reliable, and efficient steam and hot water boiler operations, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.


Job Summary: The Boiler Mechanic plays a critical role in maintaining high-efficiency boiler systems, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and implementing preventative maintenance. The role requires hands-on technical expertise, attention to safety, and collaboration with operations and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and extend equipment life 


  Responsibilities:

• Install, commission, troubleshoot, service, and repair boilers and associated equipment 

         (burners, control systems, pumps, valves, and piping).

• Perform routine preventative maintenance per manufacturer specifications and site procedures.

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues; implement timely repairs.

• Monitor boiler performance, efficiency, and safety devices; adjust settings as needed.

• Inspect and test emergency shutdowns, safety relief valves, and interlocks; document findings.

• Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance logs, and parts inventory.

• Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reductions.

• Adhere to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, NFPA, local codes).

• Communicate with supervisors and operations teams regarding status, risks, and maintenance 

        planning.

• Support on-call rotations and emergency response as required.


Education And Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or apprenticeship in boiler 

        systems preferred.

• Minimum 3+ years of experience with boiler operation, maintenance, and repair.

• Strong knowledge of boiler types (fire-tue, water-tube, and/or condensing boilers, depending on 

        site), burners, combustion, controls, and safety systems.

• Familiarity with electrical and control systems (DCS/PLC) and basic instrumentation.

• Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and manufacturers’ manuals.

• Familiar with safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.

• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

• Ability to work in and around high-heat environments and confined spaces.

• Willingness to travel to multiple sites as required (travel expectations to be defined by 

        assignment).


Certifications (Required):

• Boiler operator certification or license (as required by state/municipality).

• OSHA 10/OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training.

• EPA refrigerant handling certification (if applicable to site systems).

  

Pay Details:

• Hourly rate: $31/hour

• Overtime eligibility may apply per applicable laws and company policy.

Work Environment:

• Primarily on-site at client facilities or GovServe Solutions project sites.

• Exposure to heat, noise, and machinery; strong emphasis on safety protocols.
